Calvin and Hobbes 081226

I had my hair cut today. Getting ready for 2009--new year, newly-trimmed hair. I tried a new salon, just 30 minutes by foot from my house, for a 70-peso haircut. (Yes, I walked it.) It was fine; I liked the results. Will go back. :) A showbiz chismis TV show was on while I was in the parlor. Topic during that moment was the recent break-up of Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho. Si Katrina Halili raw ang dahilan. Hayden apparently had some trysts with her when he was still in the relationship with Vicki. Tsk, tsk. Anyway, to answer questions, Hayden Kho will be guesting in Star Talk (on GMA7) on January 3, panoorin niyo na lang siya doon.

An attempt at food blogging :D

Lunch date with Ronjie last week, at Cafe Juanita. :) It's an almost hole-in-the-wall place in Kapitolyo, Pasig, parang lumang bahay converted into an eating place. Yummy food! Their menu offered dishes from various cuisines but for that afternoon, we had Pinoy. Masarap yung pinakbet nila (with pork, shrimp, chicharon and fish as sahog). Their bagnet also! The right combination of crispy pork and crunchy tomatoes. Ang appetizing pa ng color combination.

The interiors were interesting. The owner used his/her collections of kung-ano-ano to fill up the place--masks, colored bottles, ceramic figurines, flatware, etc. May puppets din, the marionette type pa! Took a couple of shots using Ronjie's (better-than-mine) phone camera:

Hehe. This is a food blog with no food photos. Oops. :D Forgot to take some kasi deretso kain na kami nung dumating yung mga inorder namin.

Jute espadrilles

A friend imports espadrilles from Spain. Check them out at These are some of their brown flats, my picks. (I like flats. :D)

(Scroll down. Help! Paano ba mag-post ng pictures na magkakatabi? At a paano ayusin ang wrapping ng images so that you can have text adjacent to a photo?)

They have nice wedges also. This is a brown Penelope wedge:

December na! Twenty-four more days to go before Christmas! :)

Kuwago and Readymechs

Kuwago's first music video is on YouTube!

YouTube link here. My brother's a member of the band. :D

Here's something to do for those who like working with their hands: Readymechs! "Readymechs are free, flatpack toys for you to print and build. They are designed to fit on an 8.5"x11" page and printed with any printer. You’ll need double-sided tape, thick matte paper, and 10-15 minutes for build time." They're cute! Galing nga ng pagka-design sa kanila. Some samples:

Ryan Cox

Visit the Readymech website for the .pdf files of the ready-to-cut-outs. They have a lot of characters to choose from. Happy Sunday!

E-mail backlog

I have very limited internet access in the office so I get to check my personal e-mails (and do www surfing and blog-browsing) only when I get home from work (except for the occasional e-mail reading I do through Yahoo Go and GMail Mobile :D). However, since I almost always just go straight to sleep when I see my bed, my mail piles up, just enough to keep me occupied on a Saturday morning.

Sharing a couple of sites I recently visited:
Doing journalism with nuns - a blog entry by Sandra Aguinaldo of GMA News
Why we spend the way we spend - “People’s complex behaviors towards money defy economic theory."

This afternoon, I'm making Christmas cards with some kids. :) I still have a lot of unread mail; I'll get back to them tonight. :D

Lazy Saturday

Blah. I have a runny nose and feel really weak. I feel really lazy and I'm still in my pajamas. And so I decide to finally start blogging. Abangan.
